Metran team
The background of Metran Industrial Group dates back to 1988 when Pribor plant in Chelyabinsk engaged in production of military products including pressure measurements, acquired documentation from Teplopribor Moscow Research Institute started the production of Sapfir-22 non-military pressure transmitters. Leonid Vasilyevich Ushakov, the future Technical Director of Metran, was the initiator of the launch of production of Sapfir transmitters at Pribor plant. There was a huge shortage of general industrial pressure transmitters of Sapfir-22 type in the market of automation tools in civil industries b the end of the 80s. They were produced by 5 factories of the Ministry of Instrument Engineering and still transmitters were in short supply. At the same time, Pribor plant had technologies, equipment, experience and skilled personnel.

Malitsky ДAt the very end of the 1980s, Sektor enterprise was established on the basis of one of the divisions of the Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering Technology, at Pribor Plant site to assist the plant in the development of Sapfir transmitters. Employees of Sektor developed test benches, programs for programmed machines, and then organized the production of pressure transmitters Vozdukh, which were needed for testing of instruments. At the beginning Sektor was headed by L.V. Ushakov and Alexander Vladislavovich Lazarev.

The financial and economic situation in the country in 1991 and, accordingly, the situation at Pribor plant deteriorated. The size of the defense order began to fall sharply. The accounts receivable increased amid the insolvency of customers. About 7 thousand unsold pressure transmitters accumulated in warehouses, and the share of barter transactions increased in the settlements for products. A sales department was created in Sektor, it took up an active sale of this warehouse stock.

Metran Research and Production Company was created on March 17, 1992 which specialized in the development, organization of production and sale of new series pressure transmitters. A team of talented engineers, entrepreneurs and like–minded people was formed by that time comprising Vitaly Mikhailovich Sidorov, Alexander Vladislavovich Lazarev, Leonid Vasilyevich Ushakov, Alexander Vladimirovich Malitsky in Chelyabinsk and Leonid Ivanovich Marichev, Albert Yakovlevich Yurovsky, Vilen Ivanovich Serdyukov, Artur Germanovich Smirnovsky in Moscow, who became the founders of Metran. They understood that it is necessary not only to develop new devices that meet modern requirements to survive and develop in the current conditions, but it was also necessary to create new types of production and sales organization. Vitaly Mikhailovich Sidorov was unanimously elected as the director of the company. The company was located on the leased premises of the Ural Thermal Engineering Research Institute, UralVTI, at Pobedy ave., 168.

The name Metran was formed from the first letters of the English words MЕasuring and TRANsmitter and reflected the key businesses of the company. Albert Yakovlevich Yurovsky was the author of the name of the new company “Metran”. It was also decided to name all new instruments as Metran.

The word Metran with the image of the letter T in the form of an arrow pointing upwards, which reflected the spirit of business – moving forward and upward, purposefulness, strength and focus was the first logo of Metran. The first slogan of the Metran was: “Wherever there is energy and movement!”

The first pressure transmitter Metran-45

The first serial instrument Metran-45, a low-limit pressure transmitter was released on September 17, 1992. This date is considered to be the date of the founding of the Metran business. The instrument had a fundamentally new – “dry”, without fill fluid, with one membrane – design of the measuring unit, which reduced the error of the transmitter and simplified manufacturing. New electronics were also developed, a new flat housing, with easy access to the adjusting screws, which made the transmitter easier to configure. The transmitter responded to the market's need for low pressure measurement. Metallurgical enterprises were the main customers at that time. Albert Yakovlevich Yurovsky, at that time the leading designer of the Moscow Research Institute Teplopribor, became the developer of these transmitters, as well as the co-author of many other future products. It was the era of analog devices, both in terms of the method of processing and converting the measuring signal, and in terms of the type of output signal.

The production of new Metran instruments was deployed at NPO Electromechanika defense facility in Miass in the absence of in-house production facilities, where Alexander Vladimirovich Malitsky was the production director at that time. It also produced parts for Vozdukh pressure selectors, which were assembled by Sektor. The pressure selectors became the beginning of the development of production and the development of a line of metrological equipment in Metran, from pressure calibrators to metrological test bench. Leonid Iosifovich Borishpolsky later became the Director and inspirer of this business line for many years.

Metran began to develop a new business – flowmetry in 1993. The first product was the analog vortex acoustic flow meter SVA for measuring water flow in process and fiscal metering systems. The first heat meters were developed and produced on its base. The production of functional equipment started In the same year. And most importantly, the broadest series of pressure transmitters Metran-43 entered the market in 1993, covering all major types of measurements and applications.

At the same time, Ed Monser, President of Emerson, came to Russia for the first time, visiting Chelyabinsk with a lecture on ways of conversion of the military industry to the production of civil products and got acquainted with the participants of the workshop including the managers of Metran.

The number of Metran customers was growing, so it became necessary to create an industrial concern that coordinates all functions of the instrument business: from development and production to logistics, sales and marketing. Metran Concern AOZT (closed joint-stock company) was created in 1994 for this purpose reestablished in 1996 as a CJSC. The main founders of the concern were: Chelyabinsk firm Metran and enterprise Sektor, Moscow Research Institute Teplopribor, Chelyabinsk Plant Teplopribor. The sales departments of Metran company and Sektor were consolidated by the Concern. Metran company became a purely engineering team, and Sektor was transformed into the Metran-STAR enterprise (Thermal Metering and Automatic Control Systems) and continued the development of bench equipment and the production of pressure selectors Vozdukh. All newly created enterprises are located in Chelyabinsk in the Ural Thermal Engineering Research Institute of UralVTI on leased premises.

The development of an Energy Saving Program for the Chelyabinsk Region began in 1994, in which the newly formed concern took part. As a result, Metran saw an increase in demand for flow meters and heat meters, which became the driver for the development of this business. Regional Intersectoral Energy Saving Fund became a shareholder of the concern.

1995 was an interesting year due to two significant events: differential pressure transmitter Metran-43F-DD was developed, capable of withstanding high operational static pressure up to 25MPa, which passed all departmental tests in Gazprom, was recommended for use at Gazprom facilities and became a pressure transmitter with the highest demand in the gas industry. The developer of this transmitter, Alexander Vladimirovich Fetisov, led research and development in the field of pressure measurement for a long time, up to the development of transmitter Metran-150. The first meeting of the management of Metran and representatives of the Emerson company took place in the same year. Ron Migliorini, Alexey Vernov and Vitaly Sidorov met in Chelyabinsk. Those were the days when representatives of foreign business started to express their interest in the opportunities that were opening up, started to visiting Russia, and not only Moscow. Metran released the first blue A5 product catalog for customers and distributed it by mail.

A corrosion-resistant pressure transmitter Metran-44 that had three membranes – two separating and one measuring –was born in 1996. It steadily maintained metrological performance even in aggressive environments due to this design and was used to measure the pressure of fluids containing oxygen and hydrogen sulfide. Metran-44 became the prototype of Metran-49, a microprocessor-based corrosion-resistant transmitter developed by 2000 under the assignment of Gazprom for use in chemical plants and enterprises of Orenburg and Astrakhan fields, where natural gas contains up to 26% hydrogen sulfide. Metran-49 became a silver diploma winner of the “100 best goods of Russia” award in 2001. L.V. Ushakov and A.V. Fetisov were awarded a prize in the field of science and technology for this development in 2004 by a resolution of the Gazprom Management Board.

Metran concern created a service in 1996 that not only established the performance of factory service functions at the enterprise, but soon created a whole network of service centers in Russia based on partnerships with regional service organizations.

Metran concern took a stable position in the production process automation market by 1997, the staff of the concern and partner enterprises grew to 300 persons. Metran found regular customers and entered the international market. The company supplied the entire product line such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, metrological equipment to China, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Germany and the United Kingdom starting from 1997 and till 2005-2007.

The main limitation was the lack of sufficient shop floor space and capacity. The solution was found in 1998. Metran concern moved to the leased areas of Pribor plant in the summer, and Vitaly Mikhailovich Sidorov became the director of Pribor plant. Alexander Vladislavovich Lazarev became the General Director of Metran concern.

The end of the 90s was a tough economic period, which ended in default in 1998. Despite the difficulties in obtaining “ready cash”, and during these years customers paid for up to 80% of the products shipped to them by barter, Metran showed its best strength: the ability to quickly adapt to any situation and never lose his presence of mind, find a way out of any, the most difficult situations. The company's managers and employees did their best to ensure that salary delays were minimal, taxes were paid on time, and delays in settlements with suppliers did not disrupt the rhythmic operation of the business. Strategically, the default had a positive impact on the competitiveness of Russian products on the world market and the development of domestic production and marked the beginning of a decade of rapid economic growth as it became clear a little later.



Meanwhile, Metran's relationship with Emerson was developing leading to creation of one of its strongest divisions, which until 2000 was called Fisher-Rosemount, after the names of the product brands of its main businesses. Ed Monser sponsored a three-month internship for Vyacheslav Pozdnyak, a pressure business manager, at Rosemount Inc., Chanhassen in 1998. Together with Chris Wells, then Marketing Director, they developed the first joint business plan for the sale of Metran and Rosemount pressure transmitters in Russia. Pressure transmitters Rosemount 3051 appeared in the Metran sales catalog in 2000.

It became finally clear to the Metran Sales Service in 1999 that it was impossible to serve customers in Russia and the CIS from Chelyabinsk effectively, with any prospects of growth. The “big expansion” started under the leadership of Sales Director Alexander Vladimirovich Malitsky. Integrated Sales System “Region” was created, which implied the opening of regional representative offices of Metran in Russian cities and in neighboring countries. The cities for future regional offices were identified according to the regulation dated 15.11.1999: St. Petersburg, Kiev, Minsk, Alma-Ata, Ukhta, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Tyumen, Perm, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Chita, Surgut, Khabarovsk. Regional offices have been created and operated in most of these cities since 2000. At the same time, a branch of Metran managed by Leonid Ivanovich Marichev has been operating in Moscow since 1992 and Metran-Komplekt was registered in 1994.

Metran lacked its proprietary temperature transmitters for complex deliveries to customers of measuring instruments throughout the 90s, they were mainly purchased from Chelyabinsk Teplopribor plant, and the lead time was very long. Thus by February 2000, TKhA-TKhK Metran-200 series of thermocouples was developed and put into serial production. The advanced product was made from an off-the-shelf thermocouple cable, which greatly simplified production, increased measurement stability and made the product maintainable. The development and production of temperature transmitters has come a long way since then, transmitters have become microprocessor–based, digital devices, and the latest development of the Engineering Center for Surface High-Precision Temperature Measurement Technology has made a small revolution in measurements – for the first time, it is not necessary to tap a pipeline to accurately measure the temperature of the fluid, and the location of the transmitter can be changed when necessary.

A very important event took place in October 2000 – the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) represented by the Ural Regional Venture Fund became the largest investor in Metran. Shortly before that on June 30, 1999, the business was restructured to get more leverage from investments, and Metran Industrial Group CJSC was established with EBRD as one of the major shareholders. This financial union made it possible to attract additional funds for upgrading production facilities, for example, the only laser computer measurement system in the Russian instrument-making industry, OPTEL-M, was installed in the Central Measuring Laboratory of the company allowing high-resolution control of almost any geometric parameters. The assembly plant was upgraded, and the introduction of a corporate management system began. Metran Industrial Group became the main business unit, inheriting from the concern the functions of sales, financial management, coordination and development. Metran made the next technological breakthrough at the turn of the millennium by developing and launching the production of a new complex of pressure transmitters Metran-100, the first microprocessor transmitters in Russia using HART digital signal processing. For this purpose Metran Industrial Group became the first Russian member of the Hart Communication Foundation in 1999. The third industrial revolution has taken place in the Russian instrument industry. These were the first instruments with self-diagnostics and the possibility of remote configuration. The quality of process management reached a new level, Metran PG received a certificate of compliance of the quality management system with GOST R ISO 9001-96 in January 2000, which confirmed the reliability of the enterprise as a supplier of high-level products.

IG Metran also opened another interesting page in its history in 2001 by signing a cooperation agreement with South Ural State University. Direct cooperation, primarily with the Instrument Engineering Department, allowed the best graduates to be recruited to Metran, and the university to be confident in the good employment opportunities for its students. Over time, this cooperation expanded to the creation of a laboratory of measuring instruments and systems at the university in 2006, a system of grants, internships, and joint studies.

A solemn opening ceremony of the center for exemplary flow meters was held in Metran on April 26 during the conference “Relevance of solutions to the problems of metering and control of utilities”. The development of the production of flow transmitters Metran-300PR and heat meters in the IG Metran required the creation of a high-performance calibration unit for studying, testing, calibration and verification of these instruments. The Kazan Institute of Flowmetry developed and fabricated a “flow measuring” test bench specifically for Metran. The database of standards was replenished subsequently with a “hot-water” test bench for calibration of water meters and a gas test bench for calibration of gas and steam meters.


A new modern website of the Metran Industrial Group was developed and launched in 2003, this date can be considered the official beginning of the systematic marketing of the product brand and company in the Internet. The number of visits to the site has increased a thousandfold over the past time, but Products, Documentation, Contacts are the most popular pages and search engines are the main traffic generators.

Metran grew rapidly in 2001-2003, with an average revenue growth rate of 50% per year. Every second pressure transmitter installed in Russia had the Metran brand. It was during these years that Metran became the largest Russian producer and developer of measuring instruments and has retained this status ever since.

The relationship with Emerson entered a crucial phase by the end of 2003, and the management of Emerson decided to enter into a strategic partnership with IG Metran as a result of long and difficult negotiations. A series of meetings led by Steve Sonnenberg and Mark Schumacher took place in Chelyabinsk to assess the corporate culture and strategy of IG Metran. The phrase sounded: We are the Rosemount of Russia! It was obvious that Emerson and Metran were close in the spirit of technological leadership and corporate culture, and had a glorious history of in-house R&D.

The acquisition of a major stake in IG Metran was completed on June 30, 2004, and Emerson became an investor and strategic partner. The global company received a well–developed network of regional offices, a strong local brand, a unique development team, and Metran received investments and access to global technologies.

Dwight Bohm became General Director of Metran for 6 years, until 2010, he worked for Emerson for many years and had extensive experience working in the regions, for example, he joined us directly from Japan, where he managed one of Emerson's divisions for several years. Dwight played a key role in integrating the Metran business into the Emerson family. It was a big and difficult job for the whole team, processes, procedures, policies, rules, practices, from finance to development, were integrated and harmonized. An English language learning campaign was launched for employees for cooperation between functions and departments, the introduction of LEAN system elements started in the production, and a corporate-wide policy of ethical business conduct was introduced, which to this day is one of the main values of the company.

It was necessary to develop the acquired advantages for the benefit of customers. So a Global Engineering Center was opened in the autumn of 2004 to develop R&D not only for Russia and the CIS, but also for the whole world. It will play a key role in bringing strategic products to the market in the coming years. At the moment, the center employs about 100 persons and holds 100 patents for inventions, utility models and industrial designs. Steve Trimble, an experienced engineer from the Rosemount business, was the director of the Engineering Center for three years to integrate the development process. There were difficulties in everything: cultural differences, the nature of decision-making and their implementation, methods of holding meetings and teleconferences, methods of teamwork on projects, ways of giving feedback and providing information, the level of discipline in meeting requirements. Joint reviews of progress, visits, trainings, internships and a lot of patience and perseverance have led to success, the Metran Engineering Center has become truly Global.

Business integration into the Emerson company continued, a single product line, a single stand, a single team of experts from the Metran Industrial Group and LLC Emerson were first presented to customers in 2005 at the Neftegaz exhibition in Moscow which was the largest oil and gas industry forum at that time.

2005 was remembered for the large–scale modernization of the production of measuring instruments, and the first Rosemount products manufactured in Russia were shipped to customers in 2006. These products were pressure transmitters 3051C/T which are the most popular pressure measuring devices in the world to this day being essentially an industrial standard.

New investments followed in 2006. A Customer Support Center was opened, combining all market service functions, from technical consulting on product selection, to contract administration, logistics, customs clearance and factory service. Think Customer strategy was introduced, trainings and courses were conducted for the entire organization, and best practices were introduced. Now the service has 195 persons. In the same year, Project and Servicing Division was set up for the integrated implementation of turnkey automation and engineering projects, with the functions of object inspection, design, equipment selection, configuration and debugging, installation supervision and service. It currently employs 175 persons.

In December 2006, a new project was launched in Metran – “School of Automation”, regular free three-day courses of theoretical and practical training in measuring instruments in a specially equipped laboratory. As for the evolution of pressure measuring instruments, an instrument was released in 2006 that finally solved the problems of ensuring stability, reducing the error from static pressure, and increasing resistance to overload pressure. The sensitive element developed by Rosemount became the core of the new Metran-150 series, which replaced the Metran-100. Metran-150 became the winner of the competition of the Program “100 best goods of Russia” in 2009 and is currently one of the main products of Metran Group, having been upgraded with a special design for nuclear power plants during this time.

Fisher valve assembly facility was opened in Metran in 2007 for the development of Emerson's presence in Russia and localization of business, the business expanded the site area and functionality in 2011, acquired a warehouse, new equipment, and the production facility received the status of a plant in 2013 becoming the third plant in Europe. The production of valve parts began in Chelyabinsk, and the production of pressure regulators was opened in 2014.

It should also be noted that in 2005-2007, the transition of the company's structure from the holding model of the 90s to the model of a single enterprise was completed. The previously mentioned enterprises and members of the Association were integrated and merged into Metran Industrial Group, and non-core functions were outsourced to third-party providers. This process has become another step towards increasing the efficiency of processes and increasing labor productivity. .

The global crisis of excessive borrowing in 2008 significantly affected Metran, shares of key customers from the oil and gas industry plunged, difficulties arose in re-crediting, investments in modernization decreased, and, accordingly, the volume of orders dropped. Metran was forced to conduct restructuring. However, significant business growth was recovered in 2010, exceeding 2007performance in absolute terms due to the further increase in oil prices and the hard work of the team.

Metran Industrial Group received the Emerson Star Safety Award in 2009 for the first time as the company's safest production facility in the category of over 500 employees. This award was again granted to Metran in 2011. This result is a consequence of a long–term and daily policy in the field of occupational safety and health.

Alexander Alekseevich Glazyrin took over the management of Metran Industrial Group in 2010. The strategic goal of his leadership was the further localization of Emerson's business in Russia, the creation of new development opportunities, the opening of production of new global products and their development. At the same time, IG Metran was awarded the status of the largest taxpayer, the amount of revenue exceeded 3 bln RUB, and it became clear that Metran had overgrown its clothing again, the lease of the premises of Pribor plant and related restrictions began to interfere. начали мешать.

Metran organized “Days of Innovation in the Southern Urals” hosted in Chelyabinsk in 2011, that was a large-scale conference, during which the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region and the city authorities, the management of South Ural State University and David Farr, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emerson, as well as 300 representatives of Russian business, journalism, and students discussed and confirmed the need to develop innovative business in the Southern Urals and saw that there are all opportunities in place. This visit by the first person of the Emerson company was a turning point in the decision in 2012 to build its own new Metran plant in Chelyabinsk. A deal was completed in October 2012 to purchase a plot of land on Novogradsky Prospekt at an open auction, and an announcement was made for investors, customers and the press.

Another important event took place in 2012 – the assembly production of control cabinets was launched. Metran Industrial Group wa transformed from an enterprise focused on measuring instruments into a “multi-plant”, covering all three main “pillars” of industrial automation: transmitters (measuring instruments), actuators (valves and regulators) and control systems. The integrated project implementation and service functions linked everything together.

Metran saw another test in 2012 when the flood in Thailand almost completely flooded the plant for the production of electronic components for transmitters, and the procurement service and management had to quickly look for new suppliers and help deploy the production of components on their facilities. Metran resolved the situation with a new risk management system in procurement, and now it always has at least two suppliers for each component.

In June 2013, a construction start ceremony was held on the purchased 8.1 ha site, and David Farr, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emerson, set an ambitious goal of building a modern instrument-making plant from scratch in two years. Which was done.

We began the opening ceremony of the new office and production complex Metran on June 15, 2015, at 15.00 with an area of almost 30,000 square meters built according to world standards. It was an incredibly challenging project, not only for construction, but also for the transfer of production without compromising the delivery time of products. Metran Industrial Group has become not just a new plant for the production of an existing product line, but has acquired the status of Distributed Service Center for Emerson, which means the creation of an easily scalable business infrastructure in terms of all key functions – production, technical support, finance, personnel management, logistics, etc., which makes it easy to accept and develop any business Emerson is in Russia, whether it is the need of Russian customers and the potential of the market.

Meanwhile, technology was developing rapidly, and the fourth industrial revolution came to industrial automation, primarily in the form of the ideology of the industrial Internet of things. Metran responded to customer needs offering light and affordable measurements with the development of a particularly small-sized R-520 transmitter for measuring pressure in tankers (2016), a capillary-free level measurement system based on electronic remote sensors (ERS) (2012), and the upgrading of wireless transmitters for use at ambient temperatures up to minus 60 degrees (2015), the development of a revolutionary technology for the market of high-precision surface temperature measurement (2016), the expansion of the instrument calibration period. Instruments are now installed where previously measurements were too expensive or physically impossible in industrial enterprises, and processes were blind. 2014 was marked not only by the Olympics with the participation of two Metran employees in the Olympic Torch Relay, but also by the large-scale global and Russian geopolitical crisis. The collapse in oil prices and limited access to financing have created significant problems for key customers – oil companies. There have also been changes in domestic policy, and Russia's main industrial holdings have announced an import substitution strategy, including with regard to suppliers. In this situation, Emerson's long-term localization strategy, which began back in 2004 with the acquisition of Metran, has become the most important advantage of the business. It was thanks to local production, engineering, service, support, and development that the company quickly restored sales growth to double digits in 2016, and Russia, represented by the management, was awarded by Emerson for the best management in the European region.

The new plant has created and is creating opportunities for the development and further localization of Emerson in Russia. A significant number of completely new production lines have been launched at the new Metran plant since 2015, and many new products have been launched that were not produced in Russia before. The production of Rosemount level meters commenced, the production of pressure, temperature, and valve transmitters expanded, a new calibration unit for flow meters was launched that meets the requirements for the secondary standard, and the production of software for control systems was set up. The production of anti-surge valves and high-pressure valves was arranged. A new production of solenoid valves and filters of ASCO regulators and the production of Micro Motion Coriolis flowmeters was opened in Russia. Production of Crosby safety valves was launched.

Total revenue in 2021 amounted to 6,471 mln RUB. Tax payments to budgets of all levels and extra–budgetary funds amounted to 1,071 mln RUB in 2021. Metran is an attractive employer. The interaction with higher education in Russia and the CIS is based on the best traditions. There has been an ongoing program to support young talented scientists, graduate students and undergraduates since 2000, and the company's doors are always open for visits and practice of undergraduates, the best of whom eventually find jobs here. Providing financial support to laboratories and departments of educational institutions is another common practice of cooperation with higher education. Examples of such collaboration include not only universities in Russia, but also the universities in the CIS. IG Metran opened a completely new Competence Center at SUSU in 2018 – a modern classroom consisting of a training module and an automated process simulation unit with a field equipment. A new educational laboratory was opened at the Kazan National Research Technological University in April 2019. It also has Plantweb enterprise digital ecosystem. Such an integrated and versatile approach gives the company the opportunity to prepare future qualified specialists and competent customers in advance.

In September 2019 Rating Center for Fuel and Energy Suppliers named IG Metran the best Russian manufacturer of instrumentation and control equipment of 2018. Industrial Group Metran became the winner of the nomination “Manufacturer of instrumentation and automation” according to the results of a survey of the largest oil and gas companies in Russia. The 2019 survey involved 25 oil and gas companies, including Gazprom, Rosneft, Lukoil, Tatneft, NOVATEK and other market participants. The survey of the largest consumers is based on the history of interaction.

Anton Viktorovich Druzhinin become General Director of Metran Industrial Group in 2021, replacing Alexander Alekseevich Glazyrin, who had managed Metran since 2010. The strategic objectives for the new General Director are: increasing business profitability, entering new markets, increasing the share of localized products and developing Metran as a digital factory. Initiatives such as machine vision to control operations, vertical storage systems to optimize space, a conveyor to speed up the production process and vending machines to optimize supplies have already been implemented.

Emerson announced an agreement to transfer its Russian business to local management on September 27, 2022. This announcement followed the company's May announcement to exit the Russian business and explore strategic sale options.

Metran Industrial Group is a leading Russian instrument-making enterprise and, despite the difficulties, continued to fulfill its obligations. Metran encompasses all stages of the product life cycle: development, manufacturing, technical support, sales, servicing and customer training.

Metran Industrial Group turned 30 years old in 2022. The company carried out a business transformation in the year of its anniversary with the aim of becoming a leading Russian import-independent developer and manufacturer of process automation tools and systems. Metran sought to provide its customers with automation tools and systems on the new platform as soon as possible as Emerson left Russia.

Metran received special permission from the President of the Russian Federation on February 21, 2023, to make a deal to acquire the Russian business of Emerson, and the transaction was completed on March 29, 2023. The company entered a new stage of development: the company develops new measuring instruments and automation systems on an import-independent platform, accepts orders and manufactures products, provides services. The company plans development in the field of complex enterprise automation projects, and has plans to strengthen its presence in international markets. Engineering personnel play a key role in this process.  

Metran carried out work to ensure reliable supplies of components in new conditions in 2022 and implemented necessary internal structural changes, upgraded its IT infrastructure, and launched a website www.metran.ru. A new portfolio of products and services was formed, both available now and with the prospect of expansion over the next three years. Level meters, Coriolis and electromagnetic flowmeters, analytical equipment, valves, and wireless technologies will soon be available for order.    

Also, the company now has no restrictions in terms of sales markets and enters the CIS markets and other international markets in the future as an exporter of its high-tech products.

World-class production processes, high production culture, quality management system, modern equipment and tooling base are fully preserved and continue to develop.
